Power Grid Wins Bid to Develop 2,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage Projects in Andhra Pradesh
In a regulatory filing, Power Grid Corporation of India has informed that it has been declared the successful bidder under Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding.
According to the filing, the company will establish a project titled “Selection of Battery Energy Storage Developers for setting up a cumulative capacity of 2,000 MWh (1,000 MW × 2 hours) standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems at selected APTRANSCO substations in Andhra Pradesh for on-demand usage.”
The project is supported by Viability Gap Funding through PSDF and will be implemented under the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model. At the 400/220 kV Kalikiri substation in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh., Power Grid will set up a Battery Energy Storage System with a capacity of 150 MW/300 MWh.
