Ammann India Commences Production of ARW 65 Walk-Behind Roller at Mehsana Facility
Ammann India has commenced production of the ARW 65 Walk-Behind Roller at its manufacturing facility in Mehsana, Gujarat. The inauguration was led by Mr Hans Christian Schneider, Global CEO, Ammann Group, and Mr Dheeraj Panda, Managing Director, Ammann India, along with the company’s senior leadership team.
The move marks a strategic step in strengthening Ammann India’s commitment to localisation while expanding its compaction equipment portfolio to address the country’s growing urban and infrastructure development requirements. The ARW 65 will be manufactured locally in line with Ammann’s global engineering standards and advanced production processes, ensuring high performance and reliability tailored to Indian site conditions.
Designed for smaller and confined construction sites, the ARW 65 is a versatile 2-in-1 compaction solution with a working width of 650 mm. It offers high amplitude settings for soil and gravel compaction, and low amplitude for asphalt applications. The machine is powered by reliable Kohler or Yanmar diesel engines and features a fully hydraulic drive system that eliminates belts and clutches, thereby reducing maintenance needs and enhancing operational reliability.
Among its key features are a 60-litre water tank with an integrated sprinkler system for asphalt compaction, hydrostatic eccentric adjustment with two force levels, improved ergonomics, and enhanced safety provisions including a dead-man handle and integrated parking brake.
With an operating weight of approximately 694 kg and a maximum centrifugal force of up to 23 kN, the ARW 65 is well suited for pavement repairs, pathway construction, landscaping works and urban infrastructure projects.
The Mehsana facility has an annual production capacity of 150 units for this model and supports approximately 90 per cent localisation.
Commenting on the development, Hans Christian Schneider, Global CEO, Ammann Group, said, “India is a strategically important market for Ammann, and our commitment extends beyond introducing globally proven technologies. We are focused on localising innovation through engineering solutions tailored to India’s operating conditions, customer expectations and infrastructure ambitions. The commencement of ARW 65 production reinforces our long-term commitment to local manufacturing and engineering excellence.”
Dheeraj Panda, Managing Director, Ammann India, added, “Ammann India remains focused on supporting the country’s accelerated infrastructure growth, backed by strong policy momentum, enhanced government investment and the Make in India initiative. Local production of the ARW 65 reflects our strategy of combining world-class technology with Indian manufacturing capabilities to deliver reliable, productive and sustainable compaction solutions. This milestone highlights how targeted investments in domestic manufacturing can enhance efficiency, quality and long-term value for customers.”
The ARW 65 Walk-Behind Roller will be available in the Indian market from April and will be supported by Ammann India’s nationwide sales and service network.
