Walplast Expands HomeSure GypEx Portfolio with Launch of GypEx MoistShield and GypEx Gold

Walplast Products has launched two new products under its HomeSure GypEx portfolio, HomeSure GypEx MoistShield and HomeSure GypEx Gold. The new solutions have been developed to address evolving construction requirements around moisture resistance, application efficiency, surface quality and consistency.

With construction projects increasingly focused on faster execution and improved material performance, gypsum-based plastering systems are gaining relevance as an alternative to conventional plastering processes. The latest additions to the HomeSure GypEx range are designed to simplify application while addressing specific requirements across interior construction environments.

Commenting on the launch, Rohit Chakraborty, Vice President – Business Head, Gypsum Plaster, Gypsum Board and Construction Chemicals, Walplast Products, said, “The requirements of modern construction are changing, with greater emphasis on speed, consistency and application-specific performance. Through HomeSure GypEx MoistShield and GypEx Gold, we are expanding our gypsum plaster portfolio with solutions designed for distinct construction needs. While MoistShield addresses moisture-related requirements in specific areas, GypEx Gold focuses on simplifying interior plastering through a single-coat, pre-formulated system. Both products reflect our approach of developing practical solutions that can bring greater efficiency and predictability to construction.”

HomeSure GypEx MoistShield is a moisture-resistant gypsum plaster specially designed for areas with higher exposure to moisture, including bathrooms, kitchens, basements, balconies, parking podiums and skirting areas. Formulated using pure gypsum, selected fillers and special additives to control water absorption, the product provides a smooth, high-quality surface for internal walls and ceilings while offering moisture resistance and excellent bonding. It is also designed to address surface concerns associated with capillary action and efflorescence.

The product can be directly applied on internal surfaces including bricks, blocks, RCC and sand-cement surfaces. It offers a water absorption of <10% along with compressive strength above 1.0 MPa and dry adhesion strength above 0.3 MPa. It does not require water curing and offers smooth finish, superior whiteness, high coverage and reduced shrinkage and cracking.

HomeSure GypEx Gold, meanwhile, is a premium single-coat gypsum plaster developed for internal walls and ceilings across brickwork, blockwork and concrete substrates. Formulated using high-purity retarded hemihydrate gypsum, lightweight aggregates and performance-enhancing additives, the product offers excellent workability, superior adhesion, consistent setting characteristics and a smooth, durable surface suitable for decorative finishes.

The pre-formulated plaster requires only clean water to be added at site, helping simplify mixing and application while supporting consistent quality. It is designed to eliminate the conventional two-step process of sand-cement plaster and POP punning, helping reduce application time and improve productivity. The product also offers lightweight construction, minimal shrinkage, crack-resistant performance and does not require water curing.

Explaining the product development approach, Sanjay Pawar, Head – R&D and Quality at Drychem India, said, “The development of these products has been driven by the need to address specific application challenges through controlled and purpose-built formulations. HomeSure GypEx MoistShield uses special additives to control water absorption, while GypEx Gold combines high-purity gypsum with lightweight aggregates and performance-enhancing additives to deliver workability, adhesion and consistent setting. Our focus has been to translate material science into solutions that are practical to apply and deliver reliable surface performance.”

The launch further strengthens the HomeSure GypEx portfolio, adding greater application flexibility for contractors, applicators and construction professionals seeking gypsum-based solutions that combine performance, consistency and efficiency.
