Speaking at Asia Economic Dialogue organised by the Ministry of External Affairs, Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy and chairman of Cataraman Ventues said, “India needs a culture of honesty, quick decision making, no favouritism and hassle free transactions to prosper as a country.”
Showing his disapproval of the current work culture of moonlighting and working from home, he said, “My humble desire to youngsters is to don't fall into this trap of 'I will moonlight', I will do work from home, I will come to office three days in a week.”
In his address, Narayana Murthy showed his unhappiness at the slow progress of economic progress compared with China. He said, “both countries were the same size in the late 1940s, and now look at China, it has grown to be six times the size of India due to the culture it has imbibed”.
He opined that to be at par with developed economics, the country needs to build a culture of quick decision making, quick implementation and hassle free transactions. He further added, “there is a need to improve the ease of doing and setting up businesses”. he added, “A small section of which works hard in our county, are honest, have good work ethic and are disciplined, while a majority of people have not imbibed the culture which is essential to fulfil the aspirations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
