1) What is your outlook on the future of the road construction equipment industry
in India?
The future is going to be very bright. The National Highways Authority of India has
awarded 8500 kms of national highways. The Government also has a long term focus
on road projects like Bharatmala, Sagarmala and developments of road infrastructure in
the North East.

2) According to you, how mature is the road construction equipment industry in
India?
Indian road construction equipment industry in terms of types of equipment used is
matured and comparable with any developed country. However, the products are
imported especially those machines where the requirement are in small numbers and
capital intensive. But in the future, we expect these machines also to be also
manufactured in India.

3) The trend and pace of road construction over the past two years has not been
impressive. What is the outlook for order growth?
We disagree with the statement as we see an impressive growth in awarding of
contracts and opening of project sites and delivery of machines. We expect this trend to
grow further.

4) Road Construction equipment sales are estimated to expand at a CAGR of
6.2. What are the core factors which will aid this growth figures?
Road construction equipment is expected to grow much above a CAGR of 6.2%.
Currently, Government is focusing on EPC contracts and soon new PPP projects and
hybrid model projects will further help road segment to grow.

5) In November last year Schwing Stetter forayed into the earthmoving product
sector, in a timeline when market is in a phase of recovery, how well is it
being received?
In November, during Excon, we launched our Motor Grader GR 150 and Wheel loaders
ZL50 GN, LW300 FN. The customers who have bought our machines are quite happy
and have further ordered for our machines in the first quarter of 2016. Our order
booking is healthy and we expect a good business in 2016.

6) Last year one of your key decisions was to focus on export from India, would
you like to apprise us about the progress you have made, how has it
augmented the contribution of exports in your overall revenue?
Our export is steadily growing and our products in export markets have received very
good review and customers are interested in buying our entire range of equipment (i.e)
Batching plants, concrete pumps, concrete mixers, recycling plants.

7) Schwing Stetter has set up an in-house operator training school, besides
unveiling the "Centre of Excellence" in partnership with Infrastructure
Equipment Skill Council; tell us more about these initiatives.
Shri. Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill
Development and Entrepreneurship visited the Schwing Stetter Operator Training
School on 23rd March 2016, to review and understand the training capabilities being
conducted on a regular basis. Schwing Stetter India, one of the leading concrete
equipment manufacturing companies in India, was the first company to launch the
concept of providing an in-house operator training school.
Currently, Schwing Stetter has partnered with the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council
today unveiled the first “Centre of Excellence” in India. The IESC is a brainchild of the
ICEMA (Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturing Association) where
construction equipment operators will receive a certified degree from the IESC for
skilling of equipment operation and maintenance for Concrete pump.
Through this center, training will be provided to the students and unemployed youth
under PMKVY, the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development &
Entrepreneurship. The target is to provide training and jobs to 2 lakh candidates from
this center in three years, in the following 5 segments:
  •  Road Construction.
  • Concreting – Batching Plants, Concrete Pump, Transit Mixer, Shotcrete Pump and Refresher learning programmes.
  •  Material preparation / processing.

8) Efficiency and Cost Savings are perhaps the two keywords to aid leverage in
the Indian market, technologically how do you incorporate these parameters
in your road construction equipment?
Schwing Stetter India’s equipment have the longest service life, lowest fuel consumption
along with a very high spare parts life for the money invested in an equipment, it is
important that the customer gets high level performance and quality in his job apart from
the cost saving in the fuel and the spare parts.Schwing and Stetter equipment has all of
these features built in it and further offers equipment, a longest service life which makes
very good investment sense for the customer. This is a main reason for high level of
customer patronage for Schwing Stetter equipment.

9) Increased mechanization of the road construction process is perhaps the
need of the moment, what are the latest technological innovations in the
equipment sector which you feel can help the Indian road construction
equipment industry match the global standards?

Our batching plants are made modular and mobile even upto the capacities of 110
m3/hr. this means low setup time during equipment erection and easy mobility as single
truckload with no foundation requirement at site. This makes our batching plants ideally
suited for road construction work in India or anywhere abroad.
