Our nanotechnology liquid coating solutions not only act as an insulator but also block heat

Our nanotechnology liquid coating solutions not only act as an insulator but also block heat, says Sanjay Mendiratta, Director, Heat Cure

How big is the market for liquid coating for glasses that control solar heat in India?
In India, the market for liquid coating for glasses that controls solar heat is massive. Due to rapid growth in urbanization, industrialization and increasing disposable income, the Asia-Pacific region is seeing a boom in the adoption of nanotechnology coatings that improve the thermal performance of windows and other glass surfaces. According to a recent study, the Asia-Pacific heat-resistant nanotechnology coating market size was worth USD 500 million in 2022 and is expected to grow at 22% CAGR during the period 2023-2032.

How has your organization performed in the last two years?
Over the last 5 years, we have executed our nanotechnology coatings for glass and roof at 1800+ sites – including commercial and residential sites- bringing in business worth 180+ Million Rupees. Some of the clients we served were Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Novotel Hotels & Resorts, Honda, Domino’s, lemontree Hotels, ISRO, National Heart Institute, and more. Even though we have worked for some prestigious clients, people are yet to open up to the concept of nanotechnology coatings to control solar heat. Once they understand the benefits, there is an enormous market for it in the country.

There are many entrants in liquid coating for glasses that control solar heat. What is unique about your products compared to your competitors?
There are no other brands offering nanotechnology liquid coating products in India at the moment that work in blocking solar heat from entering the building. Most of the nanotechnology coating solutions available for glass are either hydrophobic or antistatic, which act as a water-resistant material, not allowing water to stop on the surface. However, Heat Cure solutions not only act as an insulator but also block heat from coming inside the structure. With Heat Cure glass coatings, we can make a 6mm glass better than a standard quality DGU glass in terms of thermal block. Furthermore, what makes us even more unique is – our liquid coatings can stop 85% of the Sun's hot rays and 99% of the harmful UV rays that make your place hot.

India is a price-sensitive nation. What are the challenges you face in convincing the clients to adopt your liquid coatings?
Even though India is a price-sensitive nation, Indian consumers are pro-quality. It wasn’t easy when we started our operations back in 2015. The nanotechnology coatings for solar heat resistance (for glass and roof) are still a newer concept in India, causing reluctance in acceptance for our solutions. Although, with the rise in disposable income – we are seeing a shift towards our liquid coatings developed using Japanese nanotechnology. To date, we have helped out several B2B and B2C structures – cut down electricity costs, prevented heat from entering the building, and created a convenient environment for optimum operations and habitance.

Which are the cities you cater to? Which are the sectors/markets you are targeting?
Our head office is established in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, but our operations are spread across the country. We cater to every corner of the country requiring nanotechnology coatings for glass or roofs. For the sectors/markets, we are targeting the infrastructure industry, which acts as an umbrella for all sorts of construction across the country–whether for automotive, healthcare, food, education or oil and gas. Anyone who needs protection from solar heat and UV rays is a potential customer.

How long does this coating work? What are the after-sales services you provide, if any?
The performance life of our transparent nanotechnology coating extends up to 15 years without any maintenance and serves protection from infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) rays in summers and winters alike. Having said that, we offer a 10-year warranty to our clients.

What are the policy and regulatory changes you expect from the government to propel the liquid coating for the glasses market in India?
The nanotechnology coatings for solar heat have huge advantages in terms of cutting costs of electricity, reducing global warming, and lesser pollution from air conditioning systems – acting as a pillar in the green building initiative for a more sustainable future. In the current scenario, no policies or regulations support nanotechnology solutions. Still, we expect the government to support and help in the advancement of liquid coating for glasses in India in the future, as it aligns with the Indian Green Building Council’s mission – to enable a sustainable built environment for all.

Dealers are an important link between the organization and the end-users. Please share with us your dealers’ network and the various education, skill training and retention programs you conduct for them?
As of now, we have a presence in over top 23 cities across the country with our franchise network. We are constantly working towards growing this number so that we can be accessible to end clients in all 42 Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities of India.

There are many heat-reducing innovative products, such as, window glasses are available that reduce heat, same with steel and concrete. What would be your marketing strategy to increase your market share?
Undoubtedly, there are several heat-reducing innovative products available in the market, however, Heat Cure solutions can surpass them by a huge margin. In the current architectural trend, modern homes, shopping centres or corporate offices, are being built using double glass units (DGUs) to prevent heat waves from entering the building. The DGUs not only add extra weight on the building but are also 4x more expensive than our nanotechnology coating solution.
Heat Cure offers transparent nanotechnology paint that acts as a barricade between the heat and the building. Our marketing strategy is to promote our cost-effective, long-lasting and low-maintenance solution to potential clients, in tandem with our competitors, as we can maximise the benefits and slash overall costs – without compromising any convenience. We are also looking to collaborate with glass processing units, glass facade fabricators, and people in the manufacturing of UPVC and aluminium doors and windows – so that we can build a clientele through them.

Apart from liquid coating for glasses, what are your other offerings?
Besides the nanotechnology liquid glass coatings, Heat Cure offers a complete heat reflective roof solution capable of drastically reducing roof and room temperature. The top floor is usually the warmest in comparison with other floors, and with our nanotechnology solution for the roof, the temperature can come down to nearly as low as the ground floor. Our roof solution is a green building certified product which helps reduce global warming by cutting the use of air conditioners, saving energy and reducing energy costs. This solution is built on Triple Action Technology which means it not only provides insulation, but also reflects extra energy, and strengthens the surface. It is a low-maintenance solution that can be applied to any type of surface like brick roof, metal sheet, colour-coated metal sheet, RCC, etc, to reduce the temperature up to 10°C and the power consumption up to 40% – making it a number one choice for residential or commercial buildings.

What are your growth plans for your organization for the next three years?
We have successfully executed projects at over 1800 sites, spanning both B2B and B2C sectors. Looking ahead, we have set an ambitious target to achieve a minimum of 5x growth in the next 3 years compared to our current level of operations. To achieve this, we are actively seeking collaborations with glass processing units, UPVC manufacturers, and aluminium door manufacturers, among others. By harnessing the power of partnerships, we can tap into new markets and offer our clients an even broader range of services. Apart from that, one of our primary objectives is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of our existing offerings.
