Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Punjab & Administrator of Chandigarh has inaugurated northern India’s largest floating solar power plant of 2MWp worth at waterworks, Sector 39 in Chandigarh. Later, he also inaugurated a 500kWp floating solar project with fountains at Dhanas Lake.
Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST) designed and executed both these projects. The waterworks, Sector 39 floating solar project has been commissioned at a cost of Rs 11.70 crore and Dhanas Lake project cost Rs 3.34 crore. These two projects will generate a minimum of 35 lakh units (kWh) of solar energy per year with 20% module efficiency.
