German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who was in India on a two-day visit, has asked the country's IT specialists and other skilled workers to consider working in Germany. To tackle labor shortages in Germany, the coalition government in Germany is planning to reduce immigration impediments and introduce a point-based system. This point-based system would grant visas even to specialists who don't yet have a firm job offer in hand.
The Chancellor is positive that many IT specialists in India will accept this offer. The German Chancellor's trip to India was aimed at discussing economic ties and Russia-Ukraine war with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders also discussed closer defense cooperation, including a possible joint venture to build six submarines in India to help the Asian nation modernize its maritime forces.
