Asahi India Glass announces commencement of commercial manufacturing of fire-resistant glass

In a move aimed to further strengthen it’s position as India’s leading value-added and integrated glass and window solutions company, Asahi India Glass (AIS) has commenced production of fire resistant glass (FRG) at the company’s Roorkee Plant. This facility will manufacture fire resistant glass (FRG), based on gel-filled technology and will be certified and sold under the AIS Pyrobel-T brand. The product line will serve customers across industries, in varied applications. The facility is equipped with the latest, tested and proven manufacturing technology from its partner, Asahi Glass Co, Europe (AGC)). The state-of-the-art facility will produce high-quality fire resistant glass in all the classes: Integrity (E), Radiation Resistance (EW) & Heat Insulation (EI).

AIS Pyrobel-T, meets the required international standards for integrity and insulation and provides the necessary protection against fire as a part of a passive fire protection system in a building. Each glass panel is manufactured to meet stringent international standards of performance as per the specification.

Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Khanna, COO AIS Consumer Glass and Architectural Institutional Business and CMO, Asahi India Glass (AIS) said, “Supported by a group of experts and industry veterans, we have tailored solutions that meet the fire safety regulations required by our customers. The AIS FRG manufacturing facility at Roorkee, gives us the capability to make the product in India thereby meeting the growing demand for fire-resistant glass product/s, as part of a passive fire protection system to prevent the spread of fire and smoke in the event of an emergency. This also contributes to our commitment to support the GOI initiative of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’, for catering to domestic and global markets. Indigenous manufacturing allows for more flexibility in responding to customer demand, by reducing the lead time from order to delivery and enabling faster introduction of new products in line with new developments/requirements”.
