POWERGRID Wins Bid for Transmission System Project in Karnataka
Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has been declared the successful bidder under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process to establish an Inter-State Transmission System for the project titled “Transmission System Strengthening at Tumkur-II for Integration of Additional RE Potential (2.7 GW)” on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The project will involve the construction of a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line traversing through the state of Karnataka. In addition, the scope of work includes augmentation works such as the installation of Inter-Connecting Transformers (ICTs) and line bays at the Tumkur-II Pooling Station.
The proposed transmission system is expected to play a critical role in strengthening the regional grid and facilitating the integration of 2.7 GW of additional renewable energy capacity into the national power network. By enhancing evacuation infrastructure at Tumkur-II, the project will support the growing renewable energy capacity being developed in Karnataka and surrounding regions.
