Eicher Trucks & Buses has inaugurated the Eicher Community Development Centre (E-CDC) in Pithampur. Established by the Eicher Group Foundation’s local area development initiative, the centre is designed to drive sustained social impact across education, healthcare and women empowerment for communities around its manufacturing ecosystem.

The E-CDC serves as an integrated platform for delivering focused interventions in key development areas, strengthening access to quality education, primary healthcare, and sustainable livelihood opportunities. The initiative reflects Eicher Trucks & Buses’ long-term commitment to inclusive growth, ensuring that progress in industrial development is complemented by meaningful community advancement in its home ecosystem.

Commenting on the initiative, Vigyat Singh, Director, Eicher Group Foundation, said, “At Eicher Group Foundation, our CSR approach is anchored in clearly defined priority areas including education, healthcare, livelihood development and local community advancement. The Community Development Centre in Pithampur is first of its kind setup that brings these focus areas together into a single, integrated platform, enabling more consistent and measurable impact on the ground. By aligning our interventions closely with community needs, we aim to create sustainable outcomes that strengthen both individual livelihoods and the broader social ecosystem around our manufacturing locations.”

On the occassion, Bhagwan K Bindiganavile, EVP – Strategic Planning, Brand & Communications, VECV, said, “Pithampur is not just our home – it is home to the communities that have been part of our journey. Eicher Group Foundation’s Community Development Centre reflects our commitment to giving back in a meaningful and structured manner, by strengthening access to education, healthcare and livelihood opportunities. We see this as a long-term responsibility to contribute to the socio-economic development of the region and build stronger, more resilient communities around our operations.”

The centre’s education initiatives focus on strengthening foundational learning for students from grades 4 to 10, including reintegration of school dropouts into mainstream education. With smart classrooms, a computer lab and digital learning infrastructure, the program aims to improve learning outcomes and digital literacy for over 300 students annually.

Under women empowerment, the initiative works with 117 Self-Help Groups, enabling 459 women-led micro-enterprises across 1,068 households. Through skill development and entrepreneurship support, the program aims to scale this to 500 self-sustaining enterprises, strengthening household incomes and local economic resilience.

In healthcare, a mobile medical unit staffed with trained professionals delivers preventive and primary care services across industrial and nearby rural communities, reaching nearly 3,000 beneficiaries every month. The initiative focuses on improving access while encouraging stronger health-seeking behaviour.

The E-CDC complements existing initiatives such as the Eicher CII Skill Development Academy, which focuses on training youth and connecting them to employment opportunities within the Pithampur industrial ecosystem. As a scalable model, the centre is designed to expand to other regions over time, reinforcing Eicher’s commitment to responsible business and long-term community development.
