The UP government has set aside a sum of Rs. 40 billion which will be used for land acquisition for the Noida International Greenfield Airport project near Jewar. As per report, Noida Development Authority and the State Civil Aviation Department will share approximately the same amount while the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and Greater Noida Authority will contribute Rs 500 crore each.
The airport project has received in-principal approval from the centre. The authority has identified about 1,441 hectares in the first phase of the project. The airport project is expected to be completed and ready to start operation by 2022-23. Once completed, this airport will initially have a capacity to handle 60 lakh passengers.
