NTPC shall be setting up Solar Power projects of 50 MW capacity with Battery Energy Storage System at different locations in Port Blair in Andaman & Nicobar Islands as part of its Green Commitment to Government of India. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between NTPC , Andaman & Nicobar Administration & MNRE in New Delhi.
The MoU was signed by Shri Subhash Muley, ED(Nuclear and RE), NTPC, Shri Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS, Commissioner cum Secretary(Power), A&N & Shri V.K.Jain, Adviser MNRE in the presence of Shri Upendra Tripathy, IAS, Secretary, MNRE, Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD NTPC , Shri A.K.Jha, Director(Technical) and senior officials from MNRE and NTPC.
The power generated from these solar plants shall contribute towards increased Renewable Energy Deployment and Greening of A&N islands.
