In an interview to PTI, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed, by February-March next year Vande Bharat trains will be available in three versions – Vande Chair Car, Vande Metro and Vande Sleepers.
The Vande Metro will be put on track for less than 100 kilometres, Vande Chair Car for 100-550 kilometres and Vande Sleepers will zoom for a journey beyond 550 kilometres.
The Railway Minister said, in the next three to four years, railway tracks will be upgraded to support the maximum speed of 160 kmph of Vande Bharat trains.
The Vande Bharat trains are made at the Integrated Coach Factory in Chennai and are being prepped to replace Shatabdis, Rajdhanis and local trains.
“Every eighth or ninth day, a new train is coming out of the factory. Work is going to start at two more factories. We will have a new train coming out of these factories once their supply chain gets stabilized,” said Union Railway Minister after the launch of a Vande Bharat train from Uttarakhand's Dehradun to the Anand Vihar Terminal Railway Station in Delhi.
The Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
