How has Tata motors fared this fiscal?

Tata Motors has registered a growth of 30 per cent in overall context. But, in cargo side we noticed the growth of about 37 per cent. In the construction segment, market in the first few months remained very subdued. Since last few months, we have been witnessing the growth taking place. In the construction range of commercial vehicles, we have grown at about 8 per cent.

What products did you display at Excon 2015?

We have showcased showcase some of our new construction and mining vehicles for the first time at EXCON 2015. All the vehicles on display from the Tata Motors CONSTRUCK range, are based on extensive customer feedback, built with world-class manufacturing standards, with their designs and aggregates tested to withstand some of the toughest working conditions. Designed to offer maximum vehicle uptime and lowest total cost of ownership, we will shortly introduce all four of our new vehicles in the market, backed by Tata Motors extensive sales and service network across the country.

Tata Motors showcased an RMC offering – the PRIMA LX 2523.k RePTO 8 CuM RMC with RePTO on a PRIMA platform. Powered by an ISBe 6.7 L 233 PS  (230HP) fuel efficient Cummins engine, reliable 9-speed Tata G1150 gear box, the vehicle specification ensures lesser maintenance and higher payload. Since the power is taken directly from the engine, the RMC can be  utilized while the vehicle is on the move or stand still, for maximum versatility.

Please brief us about the after sales service Tata Motors provides to its customers.?

After executing projects in some of the most challenging construction and mining sites across the globe, Tata Motors CONSTRUCK range is backed by Tata motors standard warranty of 4 years / 4 lakh kms / 4000 hours (5000 hours for prima range), supported by an extensive sales network of over 1800 touch points, over 1800 service touch points and over 60,000 touch points for Tata genuine spares. On the highways of India, customers have access to a Tata motors’ service touch points every 50 kilometers. With increased service intervals on aggregates, Tata motors offers excellent aftermarket services support through value added services like a 24×7 workshops, door step service though over a 100 mobile workshops, Tata Prolife – for reconditioned aggregates, annual maintenance contract packages, over 250 dedicated on-site container workshops and industry first loyalty programs like Tata delight & Tata emperor.

Now Tata Motors is in the category, where a lot of multi-nationals have entered the Indian Market. How do you see the competition?

Tata Motors wants to continue its dominance in the construction range of commercial vehicles. We say dominance as we have 53 -55 per cent of the market share as on today. To sustain this, you have to provide the customer not only with the confidence but also the best in class service network. We have a very innovative service called Container Workshops. The machines at the mines need to perform 24X7 in the field. We provide these container workshops next to the mines so as to minimize the down time, thus delivering a better value. In terms of total cost of ownership, what matters is the total number of uninterrupted trips and the fuel consumed. When you compare the total cost of ownership for Tata trucks with any other global manufacturer in the similar category, we win hands down.
