Serentica Renewables signs 100 MW RTC power PPA with SECI

Serentica Renewables, a leading renewable energy company in India, has a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for 100 MW of round-the-clock renewable power. This marks India’s first-ever “load-following” PPA, designed in coordination with SECI and state DISCOMs to match the seasonal load profile of the offtakers.

Under the agreement, Serentica will be required to fulfill 80% of the specified hourly demand each month, with load obligations ranging from 17 MW during low-demand hours to 100 MW during peak demand. To meet this unique requirement, the company will deploy a diversified technology mix of wind, solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The project is expected to generate over 400 GWh of clean energy annually.

Commenting on the milestone, Akshay Hiranandani, CEO, Serentica Renewables, said, “This agreement sets a new benchmark in India’s renewable energy journey. By signing the country’s first load-following PPA with SECI, we are demonstrating how innovation in renewable contracting can accelerate decarbonization while also strengthening the stability and resilience of the power grid.”

This customized contract structure represents a significant step forward in India’s energy transition, offering high-value electricity when consumers need it most. It highlights the growing importance of advanced renewable solutions that can reliably address complex demand patterns.
