The India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway project is expected to be completed in three to four years. This highway, proposed in 2002 as part of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC project), is a little over 2,800 km long. It will connect Moreh, India, with Mae Sot, Thailand, via Myanmar. This highway will pass through cities like Sukhothai, Mae Sot in Thailand, Yangon, Mandalay, Kalewa, Tamu in Myanmar before reaching India. In India, it will pass through Moreh, Kohima, Guwahati, Srirampur, Siliguri to Kolkata.

The shortest stretch of this highway is in Thailand, while the longest stretch will be in India. Speaking at the business conclave organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) as part of the BIMSTEC project, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijavat Isarabhakdi, said the Thailand portion of the highway has already been completed.

The Myanmar Commerce Minister, Aung Naing Oo, informed that the work of constructing the highway in Myanmar is likely to be completed in three years.
