Ramco Cements has the Best Performing Wind Farm
The Indian Wind Power Association has recognized Ramco Cements’ Wind farm as the Best Performing Wind farm in the above 2 MW category for the following Zones:
- Zone I – Tamil Nadu – Aralvoimozhi and Cumbum Pass
- Zone II – Tamil Nadu – Veeranam, Poolavadi and Ottamadam
The awards were given based on an evaluation of the following parameters:
- Average machine availability
- Capacity factor
- Age of the Wind Farm
- Cost of maintenance per unit generated
- Reactive power drawl
- Wasteland development activities
- Accidents
- Community service activities
- Innovative measures
Even before de-carbonization had become as imperative as it is today, Ramco Cements had begun harnessing green power, ie, as early as 1992-93. What began as 4 MW, has now reached a capacity of 166 MW. Ramco Cements’ Green Power mix is now more than 45% of the total captive power capacity. The investments made in wind farms are testimony to Ramco Cements’ concern for environmental protection and sustainability.
