What is your outlook for the construction & concrete equipment industry in 2023?
In a strong economy, there is typically more demand for new construction projects and therefore more demand for construction and concrete equipment. Government spending on infrastructure projects can also have a significant impact on the construction and concrete equipment industry. Technological advancements will also play a role in the construction and concrete equipment industry. As technology improves, construction equipment becomes more efficient and effective, which can lead to increased productivity and lower costs. In India, the Government of India has planned to invest around $1.4 trillion on infrastructure till 2025 which would boost the construction equipment industry. Furthermore, Government of India has also announced various schemes like ‘Housing for All’ and ‘Smart Cities’ ‘metro rails’ in major cities, airports expansion, high speed rail  projects which would boost the construction industry in India.

How is the roads and highways sector shaping up in India?
The roads and highways sector in India has been growing in recent years, driven by government initiatives and increased investment. The Indian government has announced plans to invest heavily in infrastructure development, particularly in the roads and highways sector. This includes the Bharatmala Pariyojana, a centrally-funded and state-implemented project to develop and expand approximately 83,677 km of roads, including economic corridors, inter-corridor and feeder routes, and border and international connectivity roads. The Indian government has been promoting the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for the development of roads and highways. This model allows private companies to invest in and operate road projects, which can lead to faster project completion and better maintenance. The Indian government has also announced various policies to increase the Foreign Direct Investment in the construction and infrastructure sector, which is expected to boost the roads and highways sector. The government has also launched the "Smart Cities" project which aims to develop 100 smart cities across the country. These cities will have state-of-the-art infrastructure, including advanced transport systems, which is expected to drive demand for new road and highway projects.  The roads and highways sector in India is becoming increasingly focused on technological advancements, such as the use of drones for surveying and mapping, and the use of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) to improve traffic management and safety.

How technology advancements are aiding the growth of the Roads & Highways sector?
Advances in technology are making construction equipment more efficient and productive, which can lead to faster project completion and lower costs. For example, the use of GPS-enabled equipment can improve the accuracy of grading and leveling, and the use of robotic equipment can improve the speed and consistency of tasks such as paving. Technology advancements in concrete and construction equipment also allow for better quality control. For example, the use of sensors and automated equipment can improve the accuracy and consistency of tasks such as concrete mixing, which can lead to higher-quality roads and highways. Technology advancements in concrete and construction equipment also allow for more sustainable construction practices. For example, the use of electric or hybrid equipment can reduce emissions, and the use of recycling equipment can reduce the amount of waste generated during construction. Advancements in construction equipment technology also provide more safety features, such as sensors that detect the presence of workers, cameras that monitor the work area, and automated systems that can prevent accidents. The use of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in construction equipment can improve the traffic management and safety during the construction period of a road.

Which is that one technology that you would like to see it being implemented in the roads and highways sector?
Smart Pavement technology could provide many benefits such as real-time data collection on the status of the road and surrounding environment, this can be used to optimize the maintenance schedule and improve the road's lifespan. Improving the traffic management and safety, by using the data collected by the sensors to adjust the traffic lights, and monitor the traffic flow. Reducing the environmental impact, smart pavement technology can help monitor the air and water quality and detect any leaks or spills.
