The Telangana government has launched the ‘Cool Roof Policy 2023-28’, thus becoming the first state in India to do so. This Policy is aimed at reducing the urban heat island impact and heat stress, thereby mitigating the impact of climate change amid soaring temperatures.
KT Rama Rao, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, while launching the Cool Roof Policy 2023-28’ said that this policy will be made mandatory and occupancy certificate will be issued only if cool roof is installed.
The ‘Telangana Cool Roof Policy 2023-28″will ensure faster adoption of cool roofs in the State, to develop an ecosystem of suppliers, trained man power, testing and material to support implementation of cool roofs.
