The 30th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation week celebrations 2023, under the aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines(IBM), Chennai region was hosted by Ramco Cements’ RR Nagar (Virudhunagar) plant. The grand celebration event was a Tamil Nadu state-level function.
V Jayakrishna Babu, Controller of Mines, South Zone, IBM, Bengaluru, was the Chief Guest of the function. The function was attended by G.C. Sethi, Regional Controller of Mines, IBM, Chennai Region, S. Ramalingam, President (Manufacturing), Ramco Cements, and K. Saravanan, DGM(Mines), Ramco Cements. At the event, other officials from IBM, Cement Industry, and Mine owners were present. A souvenir from Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation Council was released at the event.
The Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation Council also gave away awards for the performance of mines. Ramco Cements’ Sivalarpatti mines bagged the 1st prize in three categories viz, Afforestation, Mineral Beneficiation, and Overall Category. It also won the 2nd prize in Sustainable Development Category.
Speaking on this occasion, V. Jayakrishna Babu, Controller of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines emphasized the importance of mineral conservation, protection of the environment, and sustainable development.
On this occasion, inter-mines competition for employees of various mines, viz, Slogan contests, Quiz, Speech, and Song Competition were held, and prizes were distributed to the winners.
