Ramco Cements’ RR Nagar (Virudhunagar) bagged the Aatmanirbhar Factory Award in the National Awards for Manufacturing Competitiveness 2022-23. Ramco Cements is the first cement plant to receive this award in India.
The award given by International Research Institute for Manufacturing (IRIM), recognizes leading manufacturing organizations for their efforts towards making their factories self-reliant and resilient to external uncertainties.
The assessment methodology was based on the following 10 indicators of Manufacturing Competitiveness
- Adaptability to customer and market requirements
- Stability in performance in changing external and internal environment
- Planning and implementation of improvement initiatives
- Hands-on leadership deployment
- Availability of critical information at required stages
- Ability to nurture a learning environment and deploy workforce talent
- Maintain challenge of prevailing processes
- Ability to map and optimize workflow
- Ensuring continuous maturation of all processes
- Data-based decision-making at all levels
The company also got the Gold Medal for manufacturing competitiveness for the second successive year. Facilities getting a score of 86 and above gets the Gold Medal (Ramco Cements got a score of 90.3).
A Diamond Trophy was also given to Ramco Cements. The Diamond trophy is for organizations that have performed beyond the expectations of the Gold Medal toward becoming globally competitive.
IRIM does a comprehensive evaluation process that involves Eligibility Discussions, Factory Assessment, Feedback, and Review to finalize the award winners.
