Mahindra World Cities ranked as ‘Leaders’ by DPIIT

The Mahindra World City (MWC) developments at Chennai and Jaipur have been ranked as ‘Leaders’, and among India’s top 13 Special Economic Zones (SEZ), in the latest Industrial Park Rating System report (IPRS 2.0) released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

The IPRS 2.0 report maps 449 industrial parks and special economic zones across India, and rates them on multiple parameters such as External Infrastructure; Internal Infrastructure; Business Support Services; and Environment, Safety and Sustainability.  Both MWC Chennai and MWC Jaipur have been acknowledged as top-performing industrial destinations in their respective regions and at an all-India level on the basis of these parameters.

Rajaram Pai, Chief Business Officer - Industrial, Mahindra Lifespace Developers, said, “We are delighted to be recognised as leaders in the industrial parks and SEZ space in India by DPIIT. Through our developments, we are already a proud enabler of Make-in-India for more than 172 global and domestic companies from 17 countries.  Our focus is on enabling EoDB by offering a responsive and efficient ecosystem that is crafted with high quality infrastructure, robust governance and strong focus on ESG. Our customers have leveraged our plug-and-play infrastructure, strategic location accessibility and wide range of business support services to achieve faster go-to-market and augment business growth.”

The Mahindra World City developments in Chennai and Jaipur are pioneering integrated cities built in public-private partnership. These projects comprise large-format ecosystems that are self-contained, with co-located industrial, residential and commercial infrastructure. Spread over approximately 4500 acres, MWC Chennai and MWC Jaipur together encompass dedicated Special Economic Zones; Domestic Tariff Areas; and residential and social zones. Together, they have created direct employment for more than 69,000 persons so far.

The Mahindra World Cities provide a safe and sustainability-focused business environment that helps companies mitigate business risk. MWC Chennai is India’s first IGBC ‘Gold’ Certified Township and India’s first operational corporate Special Economic Zone. It’s also the first integrated city in India to receive third-party Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL) certification.  Mahindra World City, Jaipur is the first project in Asia to receive Climate Positive Development Stage 2 Certification from the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, a global network of large cities taking action to address climate change.  Other environment-friendly initiatives taken up at the Mahindra World Cities encompass energy-efficient ‘green’ buildings; electric mobility infrastructure; solar PV rooftops; an off-grid solar power plant; tree plantation drives; waste management; and water conservation measures.
