How is the market for pipes and fittings shaping up in India?
The pipes and fittings market in India has undergone notable transformation in recent years, driven by technological advancements and evolving consumer demands. Consumer preferences have shifted significantly, with a growing emphasis not only on interior aesthetics of the homes but also the core construction features of the building structure such as pipes and fittings. These components play a vital role in enhancing the overall design and functionality of homes.
India’s plastic pipes industry, valued at approximately Rs 540 billion, is expected to see a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 10-12% from FY23 to FY26. The PVC pipe segment is poised for significant growth, bolstered by government initiatives and increased demand for affordable housing. This upward trend is expected to continue, as the plastic pipes and fittings industry projects double-digit volume growth into FY25, largely due to demand for durable and cost-effective pipes & fittings solutions in the expanding construction and infrastructure sectors. Further driving the market, government programs focused on improving sanitation standards and ensuring access to safe drinking water—such as the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), Jal Jeevan Mission, and AMRUT 2.0—are expected to sustain growth in the pipes and fittings industry. Additionally, efforts to expand piped natural gas (PNG) connectivity directly to households are providing another substantial boost to the market for plastic pipes and fittings in India.
