We are constantly innovating to provide solutions that not only benefit our customers, but also benefit the society as a whole
How is the market for your product line shaping up in India?
The market for boilers, heaters, chillers, water & wastewater treatment (ETPs, WTPs, STPs), and air pollution control equipment is growing strongly, driven by industrial expansion, stringent environmental regulations, and a push on the sustainability agenda. The market is also seeing an increasing need for digital transformation in managing operations, optimising equipment performance, and ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
What are the key technological innovations in your product lines, including safety features, energy efficiency that differentiate it from your competition?
We are constantly innovating to provide solutions that not only benefit our customers, but also benefit the society as a whole. Each business is aligned with our commitment to being a ‘Trusted Partner in Energy Transition’ and has introduced many new products and solutions in its portfolio. For example, in our Heating business, in line with clean energy, we have introduced electric boilers (Thermotron, Effitron) and thermic fluid heaters which offer 99% efficiency and minimum impact on the environment. Our ‘Biomass Centre of Excellence’ has been set up to provide solutions to combust many difficult to burn fuels with zero environmental impact. We have also introduced heat pumps – absorption based, electric as well as hybrid heat pumps to efficiently generate hot water. On the Water side, solutions like effluent treatment plants (ETPs) including zero liquid discharge plants using MEE/ MVE technologies are helping industries to reduce freshwater intake and avoid any liquid effluent being discharged in fresh water bodies. Our Air Pollution Control (Enviro) business have come up with Flue Gas Cleaning Systems (FGCS) to handle toxic gases coming out of waste to energy plants. Apart from this they also offer gas scrubbing and cleaning/upgradation solutions to a host of industries like compressed biogas (CBG), carbon black, refineries, etc.
What role do digital technologies such as IoT, AI, and automation play in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of your product line, particularly in terms of remote monitoring and predictive maintenance?
Digital technologies are central to our offerings. Through IIoT based solution like EDGE Live, Thermax has created a robust platform for remote monitoring that helps in improving efficiency and availability through AI/ML based analytics. This enables customers to have live visibility of asset operations, including alerts that help in increasing efficiency while minimising downtime.
What challenges do manufacturers in this industry face, particularly in supply chain, raw materials procurement, and environmental regulations?
Currently, we are geared up quite well and are not facing any significant supply chain challenges in most of our businesses. However, geopolitical developments can have a quick and adverse impact, as seen in the past. In parallel, our vendors must navigate increasingly stringent environmental regulations, which require investments and compliance with emissions standards, all while balancing cost pressures. We are constantly engaged and work closely with our partners to help them navigate these challenges.
Do you offer your product line on rent? If yes, please give us an overview of your rental business?
In the Industrial Products business we do not offer products on rent but we can think of this business model if the market demands. However, our TOESL (Thermax Onsite Energy Solution) business engage with customers through the build-own-operate-maintain model where we offer steam /water/cooling as a service. Under the BOOM model, we set up the plant and undertake comprehensive operations, including fuel sourcing i.e. biomass. These utilities are 100% sustainable and green.
What are the post-installation support and maintenance services you offer your clients?
Thermax prides itself on its customer-centric approach, ensuring comprehensive post-installation support. Our services include regular annual service contracts and annual maintenance contracts, apart from this, we offer audits, remaining life assessments (RLA), operations and maintenance (O&M) support, and quick-response assistance. We also have a special focus on the revamp and retrofit of equipment for our businesses. Our pan India network of channel partners are technically trained and well versed to handle any post installation support and maintenance required by customers.
How do your product lines contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting environmental sustainability?
As explained earlier, all our new product development efforts are focussed on products that will help customers reduce CO2 emissions while addressing their heating or cooling needs. Similarly, we also have a range of products to ensure compliance to global norms for all liquid, particulate and gaseous emissions. We are constantly designing solutions that will help industries prioritise clean air, clean energy and clean water for their manufacturing processes.
What are the major trends you see in your product line in the next 5-10 years?
In the coming decade, we foresee automation, AI, and digitalisation becoming dominant trends, driving efficiency and connectivity in industrial solutions. Concurrently, there will be an increasing focus on sustainability and clean technologies. As a trusted partner in energy transition, Thermax is well-positioned to deliver solutions that address these trends, fostering a future of sustainable growth.
