The Haryana Rural Roads Infrastructure Development Agency (HaRRIDA) and the Haryana Public Works Department (PWD), along with the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), hosted a dedicated Road Safety Solutions session being organised yearly at the PWD Rest House, Panchkula.

The session was held in collaboration with Kataline as part of National Road Safety Month, being observed across India under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways’ (MoRTH) theme “Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha.” It was attended by senior government officials including Chief Guest Ranbir Gangwa, Minister, PWD B&R & PHED, Haryana; and Guest of Honour Anurag Agarwal, IAS and Additional Chief Secretary Public Works (B&R), Government of Haryana.

The knowledge exchange session spotlighted the need for improved road safety infrastructure in Haryana and neighbouring regions, highlighting solutions across rural roads, highways, blackspots, school zones, and high-density pedestrian corridors. Discussions focused on enhancing commuter visibility, reducing accident-prone zones, and strengthening coordination between state agencies and specialist solution providers.

Key speakers included Rajeev Yadav, EIC Roads and CEO, HaRRIDA, Anil Kumar Dahiya, EIC Buildings and HOD, PWD Haryana, Navdeep Asija, Advisor, Road Safety, Government of Punjab, Swatantra Kumar, Road Safety Expert and Vidheya Rao, Road Safety Expert and General Manager, Kataline.

A team from Kataline, India’s leading organisation in road markings and traffic management solutions, presented safety innovations and practical applications that support nighttime visibility, lane discipline, pedestrian safety, and accident reduction.

Speaking at the event, Ranbir Gangwa, PWD B & R, said, “Road safety is not just a technical subject; it is a civic responsibility. With rapid growth in vehicle density and mixed mobility on our roads, the need for structured road safety interventions has never been greater. Sessions like this help us explore new ideas, technologies, and partnerships that can reduce accidents and save lives.”

Y M Mehra, Chief Engineer, PWD Haryana stated, “Road safety is a shared responsibility. With most accidents arising from preventable causes, integrating safety into road design, markings, and traffic management is essential. Through disciplined engineering and coordinated action, we can significantly reduce fatalities and make our roads safer for everyone.”

Amit Thatte, Founder, Kataline added “India is at an important inflection point in road safety. Infrastructure, materials, behaviour, and enforcement all play a role in reducing accidents and improving commute outcomes. We are honoured to contribute to the Road Safety Month with this meaningful initiative and collaborate with government bodies that are committed to building safer roads and safer communities.”

The session also received support from several NGOs including Om Sewa Sansthan (Yamunanagar), Omni Foundation (Faridabad), Ojasvi Foundation (Karnal), Aas Foundation (Karnal) and Kamaa Foundation (Bahadurgarh), reflecting the broader civic coalition required to make India’s roads safer.

The event marks an important step toward building a framework for safer rural and urban roads, especially in regions with high commuter dependency, rapid vehicle growth, and mixed traffic conditions. The session concluded with discussions on possible collaboration models, field-level implementation, and culminated in attendees taking an oath to prioritise road safety in line with the national theme, “Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha.”
