JK Lakshmi Cement expands capacity to 18 MTPA with Surat Grinding Unit

JK Lakshmi Cement has commissioned a new grinding unit in Surat with a capacity of 1.35 million tonnes per annum (13.5 lakh tonnes). Alongside this, the company has completed debottlenecking of cement mills at its Jaykaypuram, Sirohi plant in Rajasthan, further enhancing operational efficiency. With these developments, JK Lakshmi Cement’s total installed capacity now stands at 18 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

The new unit in Surat provides JK Lakshmi Cement with stronger access to western markets while also delivering logistical benefits for northern and central India. This milestone comes at a time when India’s demand for housing and infrastructure is projected to remain robust, positioning the company as a dependable partner for the nation’s development priorities.

By reaching 18 MTPA, JK Lakshmi Cement has taken a decisive step toward its target of achieving 30 MTPA by 2030. The growth strategy combines brownfield enhancements with greenfield expansions, underpinned by operational excellence and disciplined capital deployment.

Reflecting on the milestone, Arun Kumar Shukla, President & Director, JK Lakshmi Cement, said, “Capacity expansion is about more than volumes, it is about delivering progress responsibly. The Surat grinding unit, supported by efficiency improvements at Sirohi, strengthens our ability to serve critical markets while aligning with India’s aspirations for sustainable growth. As we move toward 30 MTPA by 2030, our focus remains on innovation, efficiency, and ensuring every incremental tonne is produced with a lighter environmental footprint.”

Over the past year, JK Lakshmi Cement has consolidated its market position through strategic initiatives such as the merger with Udaipur Cement Works, which provided scale and operational synergies. Parallelly, the company has accelerated its sustainability agenda by sourcing nearly half of its power requirements from renewable energy, with significant investments in solar capacity and waste heat recovery projects. These steps are aligned with its global RE100 and EP100 commitments and reflect a balanced approach that combines industrial growth with environmental stewardship.

In addition to capacity expansion, the company continues to strengthen its Smart Building Solutions (SBS) portfolio. Products such as Green+ Cement, PRO+ Cement, Ready-Mix Concrete, AAC blocks, gypsum plaster, and wall putty are designed to meet the needs of both infrastructure projects and individual homebuilders, further positioning JK Lakshmi Cement as a solutions-driven player rather than a commodity producer.

With the commissioning of the Surat grinding unit and efficiency gains at Sirohi, JK Lakshmi Cement is reinforcing its role as a future-ready, sustainable enterprise committed to creating long-term stakeholder value. The company remains focused on supporting India’s housing ambitions and infrastructure priorities while advancing toward its 2030 growth vision.
