We may continue to remain a developing nation since our re inception in 1947 however the country’s power sector has achieved a feat worth mentioning. The country will have more electricity than required. This has been facilitated by increasing the coal output which in turn enabled many stranded power plants to generate electricity.

A power surplus ascertains the fact that we are in a position to meet the required demand. Achieving a surplus, especially when the nation is on an infrastructure building spree also augments well with the other sectors. As a result of this power surplus the country will have a surplus of 3.1% during peak hours and 1.1% during non-peak hours during 2016-17. According to the data made available by the Central Electricity Authority this surplus will be achieved from the month of June.
