How do you see the construction chemical market in India growing in the near future?

Although, despite huge growth prospects and construction requirements the Indian construction industry was at its worst between 2013 & 2015 in last 15 years, But, Chryso considers India as a large and growing market as most of market potential is still untapped and per capita consumption of construction chemicals in India is very low as compared to most of the developed countries. Both infrastructure and real estate segments are likely to grow fast in coming year due to continuous thrust by central and state governments to improve infrastructure. As far as construction chemicals market is concerned, we expect a double digit growth in next 5 years.

What are the latest innovations & trends in the construction chemical industry both in India and abroad?

The construction industry is swiftly adopting and employing latest technologies to meet the challenging requirements from high rise sky scrapers in real estate and large time bound constructions in infrastructure & industrial sectors. With this, demand for technologically superior and high performance chemical solutions is increasing day-by-day. At the same time consciousness for sustainable construction is growing. Owing to which there is a clear shift in demand towards high performing, green and ecofriendly products. In case of concrete additives the market has witnessed a shift from low performing SNF based admixtures to high performance PC based admixtures while in case of waterproofing demand is shifting from basic solutions to high performance polyurethane & acrylic coatings.

What is the current size of the Indian construction chemical industry and what is your forecast for the industry in 2016-17?

Although, it is very difficult to arrive at exact size of Indian Construction Chemicals Industry but it is estimated to be around ` 4,200 crores p.a. After, experiencing a very difficult phase in last 2 years, I expect market conditions to improve in 2016 and construction chemicals industry is likely to grow > 10 -12% p.a. in next 5 years and is expected to reach to a level of ` 7,000 crores p.a. by 2020.
