Evolve Energy has been awarded a contract to develop a 1.5 MW AC ground-mounted solar power plant at the premises of Mahanadi Coalfields (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India. The project underscores Evolve Energy’s growing footprint in delivering clean energy to key public sector enterprises across the country.
Tendered by MCL, the project is set to be executed under a CAPEX model with a completion timeline of six months, targeting final commissioning by November 2026. The initiative is a strategic move towards increasing renewable energy adoption in core industrial operations, particularly within the coal and mining sector.
Speaking on the achievement, S K Prasad, Head – Tendering, Evolve Energy, shared, “We are proud to partner with Mahanadi Coalfields in its clean energy journey. This win is a testament to our team’s commitment to engineering scalable solar solutions that not only meet industrial-grade demands but also accelerate India’s shift to sustainable power sources.”
As part of the scope, Evolve Energy will be responsible for comprehensive EPC execution -from detailed site surveys and engineering design to procurement, installation, and commissioning, followed by operations and maintenance. This full-spectrum approach ensures optimized performance, project longevity, and long-term value delivery.
The 1.5 MW solar project at MCL is expected to generate substantial clean electricity annually, significantly offsetting fossil fuel-based energy consumption and aligning with Coal India’s broader decarbonization goals. It further highlights how India’s mining sector can embrace renewable innovations without disrupting core operational infrastructure.
This project adds to Evolve Energy’s expanding portfolio of public-sector-led solar initiatives and reinforces its role as a trusted sustainability partner for government-backed enterprises nationwide.
