Huda is planning to construct a Greater Southern Peripheral Road (GSPR) on the outskirts of Gurgaon to facilitate smooth flow of traffic from Delhi to the industrial area of Manesar.
The GSPR, which will start from Mehrauli in Delhi and connect NH-8 in Manesar near Industrial Model Township (IMT) Manesar via Sohna Road, is expected to reduce the traffic load on the section of NH-8 passing through Gurgaon.

At present, NH-8 passing through Gurgaon, also known as Gurgaon-Jaipur expressway, is the only road connecting Delhi with Manesar industrial areas and owing to heavy traffic, commuters on this section of the expressway face traffic jams, which increase the travel time.
“The GSPR will help people to reach Manesar easily and will reduce traffic load on the section of NH-8 in Gurgaon,” district town planner (DTP) Sanjay Kumar said. He said a meeting was held in this regard with the NHAI recently.
He said the department was going to discuss the construction of this road with the Delhi government and National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB). “Soon a meeting will be held to discuss this issue,” Kumar said, adding that the road would have the status of national highway.
Assistant town planner R S Batth said the GSPR would pass through the outer side of the city and will help reduce the traffic load in Gurgaon. For GSPR about 395 acres of land in eight villages – Aklimpur (5.95 acres), Tekliki (62.95 acres), Sakatpur (68.90 acres), Sikohour (15.92 acres), Naurangpur (49.40 acres), Bar Gujjar (99.13 acres), Nainwal (59.92 acres) and Manesar (33.15 acres) will be acquired. The road will be 90-metre-wide with a 30-metre green belt on both sides.
The land will be acquired by Huda and handed over to the NHAI for construction of the road. “Financial modalities of the project will be finalised in the coming weeks,” the official said. There will be a gap of 2.5km between the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) and GSPR. The construction of this road will benefit the areas developing under the Gurgaon extension plan.
The SPR originates from Gurgaon-Faridabad Road near Ghata and meets NH-8 near Kherki Daula, and is proposed to be connected to the NPR via a central peripheral road, all of which is expected to ease NH-8 traffic.
