Burnpur Cement planing Rs 500 crore plant in West Bengal

The company is on the lookout for 100 acres of land in West Bengal, to set up its second plant in the state

Kolkata-based Ltd is planning to come up with a new plant in West Bengal which will entail an investment of Rs 500 crore and is on the lookout for 100 acres of land in the state's upcountry.

"We are on the lookout for land in Bankura-Birbhum in West Bengal", the company's managing director, said.

The plant will increase its cement production capacity to three million tonnes per annum (mtpa) over a period of 3-4 years. From the company's inception in 1991 till date, it has been able to roll out 0.6 million tonnes of cement each year.

This plant will be its second cement manufacturing unit in the state. Currently, it has a 1,000 tonne per day (tpd) capacity plant in Asansol in West Bengal which produces and another 800 tpd and cement grinding unit in Patratu Industrial Area in Jharkhand.

"We want to top the list not only in terms of production volume but also in terms of best quality and customer satisfaction", he said.

Further, having emerged as the preferred bidder for two limestone blocks in Hariharpur and Lem Bicha in Jharkhand recently, the company is keen to add another 5-6 more blocks in the same state on a lease basis.

The cement maker has recently signed on former Indian skipper as its brand ambassador for a period of three years.
