India has an impending need for infrastructure to build and sustain a robust economy, what are your views on the same?
Infrastructure always plays an important role in the development of a country. India is the world’s largest democracy with the second largest population. Hence it becomes imperative that we should give immense importance to infrastructure development. Currently majority of the population is confined to the rural areas. But limited opportunities in the rural areas have lead to increased migration to urban areas; hence the cities are getting overpopulated creating an excess load on the existing infrastructure. This clearly sets a mandate for the development of newer cities and infrastructure development of the older ones which will lead to overall economic growth of the country. It will also help in development of industries such as cement, steel and other related industries. I believe with the current government bringing in a lot of initiatives, the future of infrastructure looks very positive and in a span of 15-20 years there will be major development.
From a distributor of established brands to a RMC manufacturer what prompted you to engage in this segment, how has the journey been so far?
I had a good deal of experience working as a distributor for big cement companies. The exposure helped me to understand the nuances of the construction industry very well. As the infrastructure growth took an upward surge a lot of new innovations and technologies were introduced. These trends lead to changes in usage of the conventional construction materials. Use of RMC started gaining acceptability and a new market opened up. As an experienced professional I wanted to capitalise on this trend and provide my clients with a value addition. This led to the inception of TNA RMC. Currently the RMC Industry is growing at 15% penetration rate in India, and since the infrastructure development is growing at a good pace, I am positive about the growth of RMC industry.
What is the advantage of using RMC over the conventional materials? What are your various offerings in RMC?
Using ready mix concrete in construction significantly reduces cost by reducing material wastage lowering labour wages and reducing storage costs. The ratio of all the ingredients is accurately maintained, reducing wastage significantly. Using RMC almost eliminates the need for onsite storage greatly reducing hassle and cost. The quality control for on-site concrete has always been a major concern for the engineers and construction companies. Water-cement ratio and grading of the aggregates are next to impossible with the old fashioned concrete. With ready mix concrete, from TNA, quality is always ensured as we use state-of-the-art machineries and testing equipment. The construction site’s electricity consumption and dust too can be curtailed by using RMC.
In the long run, concrete buildings and pavements stand the test of time through their extreme durability and low maintenance requirements, and have a significant sustainable advantage over other structures. Moisture, which can undermine other building materials through rust or rot, has no weakening effect on concrete. Neither termites nor moulds take any toll on concrete. In fact, concrete continues to strengthen over time, which is why concrete structures built thousands of years ago are still intact. Our offerings in the RMC portfolio includes: Product grades ranging from M-5 TO M-70 for various applications. We also provide value based concrete such as light weight concrete, colour concrete; performance based concrete, pervious concrete and ultra thin white topping.
What are the procedures in place to ensure proper raw material is utilised in manufacturing the end product and the quality of the end product manufactured is as per defined specifications?
At TNA we are very particular about quality and consistency; every single constituent like cement, aggregate, admixtures & supplementary mineral additives are sourced from highly reputed manufacturers. We follow very strict quality norms, every constituent like cement, aggregate, admixtures are tested by our quality department.
In a market where established names operate in the RMC segment, what is the USP of TNA Ready Mix Concrete?
At TNA we have upped the ante by focussing on two core parameters: quality control and timely delivery. Our consistency has garnered a very positive response from the Thane and Navi Mumbai region. We plan to spread our wings in Mumbai too. In order to cater to the existing and future demands we are coming up with three additional plants in the Mumbai region. The capacity size of each plant will be 60cu.m/hr and it would help us to achieve an estimated volume of 40,000cu.m/month by the end of March 2017
Do you feel the future of construction lies in PEB? What are the products you offer in this segment?
The PEB sector is a new entry in the Indian market. It will take time to grow as the acceptability by the customers for the same has been very low. As of now, we have not ventured into this segment. We will monitor the demand closely and if the demand picks up we might consider it. As of now we have started working on test trials for dry mix products
