Unity Infraprojects geared up for big ticket railway projects

New Delhi, Mar (EPC News): Unity Infraprojects Ltd, one of India's major civil contracting firms, has geared up to take a lead in bagging big ticket railway infrastructure projects. There are lots of opportunities as the railways have decided to ramp up the larger version of infrastructure to bring more cities and towns on the map of Indian Railways. Today, Indian Railways operate at least 11,000 trains every day covering 63,465km (39,435 miles) across the length and breadth of the country, making it one of the world's largest rail networks.

The company has also bagged the prestigious "Essar Steel Infrastructure Excellence Awards" in the Railway Category for its "Tripura Tunnel Project" at the hands of Kamal Nath, Union Minister for Surface Transport at a dazzling function held at Delhi.

Unity Infraprojects had constructed a tunnel, 1756 metres in length, 6.30m in width and 7.88 m in height using a special blade shield, Jet Grouting and soft soil stabilising techniques. Procurement of raw material was very difficult owing to remoteness of project site. Execution of this project was also very difficult due to significant difficulties in procuring materials from Guwahati; procurement was slow and more expensive than had been projected.

Abhijit Avarsekar, VCMD & CEO, Unity Infraprojects dedicates the Infrastructure Excellence Award to his team who were responsible for working on such a difficult civil engineering project.
