Railway revenue up by 8.76 pct during April- December 2009

New Delhi, Jan (EPC News): The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during Aprilâ€“December 2009 were Rs62975.58 crore compared to Rs57901.88 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 8.76 per cent.

The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs39087.98 crore during Aprilâ€“December 2008 to Rs42488.97 crore during Aprilâ€“December 2009, an increase of 8.70 percent.

The total passenger revenue earnings during first nine months of the financial year 2009-10 were Rs17497.18 crore compared to Rs16242.45 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 7.73 percent.
