Chennai, Nov (EPC News):  Samsung India has announced the inauguration of its split air-conditioner manufacturing line at its Sriperumbudur facility.

The AC manufacturing unit in India is the fifth in the world for Samsung. Samsung India, which had inaugurated the Sriperumbudur facility in November 2007, has been manufacturing LCD TVs, Flat and Slim CTVs, front loading washing machines and colour monitors in the complex.

A press release issued by the company, quoting Jung Soo Shin, President and CEO, Samsung South West Asia HQ, says, “The air-conditioner business is a key growth engine for our home appliance business.
“The setting up of the new facility will provide a strong fillip to the business on account of better supply chain management leading to faster response to the market.”

The company will be manufacturing split ACs at this facility for catering to its market requirements in South and West.

Of the proposed investment of $100 million, the company has so far invested $30 million in this facility.

The remaining $70 million will be invested over the next two years for our future expansions.
