Torrent to foray into wind and solar power generation

Ahmedabad, Oct (EPC News): Torrent Power said that it plans to venture into solar and wind power generation.The company has been allotted 25 MW of solar power capacity by the Gujarat Government. In addition to this, the company has also entered into an agreement with the state government to set up wind farm with an investment of Rs600 crore.

As far as Torrent's gas and coal based power projects are concerned, the company has already floated global tenders for setting up a gas based power plant in the Dahej SEZ. This project, to be executed in a phased manner, will have a total capacity of 1,500 MW. Plans are also afoot to set up another 2,000 MW and 1,000 MW coal based power plants at Pipavav in Saurashtra and Chhattisgarh respectively.
