Punjab CM lays foundation stone for super thermal plant

Patiala, Mar (EPC News): The Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal recently laid the foundation stone of 1,320 MW super thermal plant in Patiala district, to be built by India's largest engineering company Larsen and Toubro Ltd.

The super thermal plant would be built at a cost of Rs9,000 crore by the L&T using the latest supercritical technology. It will have two units of 660 MW each and the Rajpura plant will start power generation in next two years.

L&T has already entered into a power purchase agreement with Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) and would supply electricity at Rs 2.89 per unit. Chairman of PSEB H S Brar said that the first unit of the plant at Nalash in Patiala district would be commissioned by January 2014.
