Traffic handled at Major Ports rises marginally during April-July

Mumbai, Aug (EPC News): Traffic handled at 12 Major Ports of India has registered an increase of over 1% during the period April-July 2009 compared to the traffic handled during the corresponding period last year.

Paradip, Tuticorin and Mormugao Ports have registered substantive growth of 22.24%, 11.82% and 19.01% respectively over the last year in handling of traffic during the period. At 180,094 thousand tonnes, the traffic handled by the Ports during this period is though slightly below the target of 189,610 thousand tonnes, it is actually up by over 1% of the traffic handled during the corresponding period last year i.e. 178,018 thousand tonnes.
