Alang shipyard to be developed along PPP model

Gandhinagar, Oct (EPC News): With a view to boosting the ship breaking industry in Gujarat, the state government has decided to develop, maintain and operate the Alang ship breaking yard near Bhavnagar on a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Regarding the same, Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) has prepared a draft report covering all aspects of ship breaking and submitted it to the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB).
After a lull lasting four to five years, the number of ships coming for dismantling at this yard has gone up this year.
