10 show interest in building multi-purpose berth at Paradip Port

Paradip, Oct (EPC News): Nine consortia and Mundra Port & SEZ have shown interest in building the multi-purpose berth at Paradip Port on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.

The Paradip Port Trust (PPT) had earlier invited requests for qualification (RFQs) in this regard.

The nine consortia are Karamchand Thapar & Brothers and Skil Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd; Jindal Steel & Power, Simplex Infrastructure and Srei Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd; Essar Bulk Terminal Ltd and Vadinar Oil Terminal Ltd; Gammon Infrastructure Projects Ltd and Sara International Ltd; IL&FS Maritime Infrastructure Ltd and Punj Lloyd; SEW Infrastructure Ltd and Pembinan Redzai Sdn Bhd; IMC Ltd and ITD Cementation India Ltd; Lanco Infratech Ltd and SICAL Logistics Ltd; Sterlite Industries India Ltd and Leighton Contractors India Pvt. Ltd.

The project is schedule to be completed by 2012. The jetty, which is under construction at an estimated cost of Rs4.83 crore, will be ready for operation soon. The jetty will be mainly used to handle project cargo.
