We are expanding our dealers’ network, says Vivek Thakur, Head – MHE Business, Hyundai Construction Equipment India

With strict guidelines, the government has allowed organisations to restart their business. What are the operational strategies you have adopted to commence your business taking into consideration safety concerns of the employees as well growth of the organisation?
Hyundai Construction Equipment (HCE), India is following all protocols & norms stated by the local authorities to maintain safe working environment across all it sales offices & factory. Employees here are encouraged to opt for work from home, thereby minimising workforce at office locations & also every processes at Hyundai are now digitised minimising paper work & maximising use of technology. At the customer end, we are supplying Covid Kits consisting of mask, sanitizer, gloves, etc, along with all of our new equipment, as to maintain safety guidelines while commissioning of truck. We have increased use of social media and have adopted digital marketing strategies. We are also reaching our valued customers by more and more online way.

In this pandemic period the e-commerce sector has shown exceptional growth. Keeping with demand and customer’s feedbacks which are the MHE products you have launched for the e-commerce sector?
With peoples buying habits changing from offline to online it is true that E-commerce sector is growing rapidly, to keep up with the demand & expectation of this industry, Hyundai as a premium player in the MHE market has launched its new series of Order Picker, which is more commonly used in E-commerce industry. Also Hyundai is now promoting & aggressively supplying Class 2 product which includes Reach Truck & Narrow Aisle Trucks.

Please take us through your product profile for the warehousing sector? What are the features of these products (including IoT, telematics, clouds, automation, etc) and how are these products assisting in warehousing operations, management and timely processing of deliveries?
Hyundai has a wide range of product under its domain, ranging from a manual hand pallet truck to 30T diesel forklift. Talking about the Warehousing truck category we have Electric Forklift (1.3T to 5T); Reach Truck: Stand-on type(1.5T to 3.0T), Seat-on(1.4T to 2.5T) & Double Deep Reach Truck 1.5T; Junior Truck : Battery Pallet Truck Upto 3T , Electric Stacker -1.5T. All our truck comes with many features such as Dual Drive Motor, Wet Disk Brake/ Electromagnetic Brakes, Curve Control, Operator presence system, Rack Height Select, etc. Hyundai also provide Hi Fleet system which is basically Fleet Management system developed by In house by Hyundai which helps customers to maximise their fleet efficiency & improve their safety.  

Please take us through your tie-ups and partnerships with various organizations to provide better products to the customers? 
HCE, India has now partnered with many rental suppliers across India to provide equipment under rentals. Also, we are now expanding our dealer network to remain closer to our customers, thereby ensuring high uptime & trouble operation of Hyundai fleets.

To maneuver these products requires a definite set of skills. What are skill nurturing training you conduct for the operators?
Hyundai MHEs are designed in a way that easily get acquaint with each operators. However, while we handover equipment to end user, we ensure that our factory trained service person explains all safety functions to the customer & also provide them training about how to operate & maintain the equipment. We also have started online training for dealer and customers’ service person keeping them updated with all changes in product and technology.  

To keep ahead of the competitors an organization has to innovate and improve on its products. What are the R&D efforts you are taking in this regard? 
Hyundai Construction Equipment always thrive to be the first choice of customers in Intralogistics, with this view we have recently entered into an agreement with Hyundai Motors and Hyundai Mobis to develop hydrogen-fuelled excavators and forklifts, with development starting this year and plans to roll out the technology as soon as 2023.

What are the after sales services you offer for your warehousing clients? 
To support our customers during this pandemic situation, Hyundai has launched a very special scheme “Saath Hamesha” with this scheme we now provides Free Scheduled Service to our customers for a period of 4-years. Depending upon customers need we offer them various value added services, viz, AMC/ CMC/ Extended warranty extra.

What are the rental and financial schemes you offer and also tie-ups with various financial institutes?
HCE, India has partnered with many rental fleet owners in all regions, with their local presence & support we provide all kind of MHEs on rent at very attractive terms. Also, we have tie-ups with all major nationalised banks to provide financial support to our customers.   

Please take us through your dealer’s network?
With 25+ dealers network pan India our customers now enjoys quick sales & service support. All dealers are having trained service engineer and keeping all essential parts to support customers without any delay.   

What are your growth plans for your organization? Is there a product launch or manufacturing plant in the offing?
Since its launch of Material handling equipment, Hyundai is growing at double digit. Our first milestone is to reach 10% market share in premium segment of MHE business. With now our wide network of dealers for sales & support we are very much positive about our growth in market share. Recently we have Li-ION Battery forklift & 9 Series Order Picker in India. These products are with latest technology keeping customers requirement in mind for safety and performance and we are receiving great acceptance by customers for these products.
