Marshal Global Renewable Power, a developer and investor in solar and wind power projects in Asia, has obtained an approval to develop, construct and operate a 125 MW wind power project in the Ben Tre province in Vietnam. The People’s Committee in Ben Tre province formally approved Marshal’s application to develop the project in 2 phases, 30 MW and 95 MW respectively, for completion over a 3-year timeframe (by November 2021) at an estimated project cost of US$ 220 million.
The project is expected to generate 400GWh of clean power, supporting the endeavors of the Ben Tre province to emerge as a centre for ‘Clean and Green Power’ in Vietnam with progressive, investor-friendly policies. The near-shore 125 MW project is located in the coastal Thanh Phong commune of Thanh Phu district in the Ben Tre province, approximately 100 km from the Ho Chi Minh City.
Marshal is presently in active discussions with leading equipment suppliers, to deploy the next generation platforms with efficient turbine configurations and foundations, suitable for the near-shore project location.
This is the second project undertaken by Marshal in Vietnam, following its 167 MW solar project, under development in the An Giang province in southwest Vietnam. Marshal is working on a further pipeline of projects in Vietnam with a development target of 1000 MW over the next 5 years.
Marshal team led by its managing director, Murthy R Nuni has been actively engaging with the provincial authorities in Ben Tre province, during the last year to develop the strategy for building a world-class wind power project in the remote communes of the province.
