The Power business of Larsen & Toubro has received two orders from NTPC. The order is for setting up Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) systems at NTPC’s Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Plant in Madhya Pradesh and Darlipali Super Thermal Power Project in Odisha. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India has made it mandatory for installation of FGD systems in existing and upcoming thermal power plants to curtail SO2 emissions.
L&T and Chiyoda Corporation of Japan have signed a long-term technical licence agreement by which L&T has been granted exclusive rights to undertake engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of Chiyoda Thoroughbred 121TM (CT-121TM) FGD systems. The CT-121TM FGD process is a unique technology in which sulphur dioxide is absorbed from flue gas generated by coal-fired, oil-fired and other types of boilers and removed as gypsum.
