Jal Jeevan Mission & Swachh Bharat Mission recommend Grundfos' AQPure

Grundfos' AQPure, a solar energy-based water treatment plant based on ultra-filtration has been shortlisted as one of the recommended innovative solutions by the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission. AQPure's selection marks its place as an innovative technology under the list of recommended technologies of the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation's innovation portal.

Grundfos' AQPure is an automated water treatment solution that works on solar power, designed to provide drinking water, even in remote locations. It is a pre-fabricated and modular water treatment plant that provides reliable and affordable water supply. AQPure is capable of supplying water to inaccessible and isolated areas where secured and cost-efficient drinking water systems is a rarity, making AQPure an ideal solution for Jal Jeevan Mission's ambition to provide tap connections to over 191 million rural households in India by 2024.

Commenting on the recognition, R. Rangarajan, Area Sales Director- Water Utility, INDO region, Grundfos said “We are pleased that Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Jal Shakti Ministry has recommended AQPure as one for the innovative technologies that can be used in the Jal Jeevan mission program, and appears on its innovation portal. This selection validates AQPure's ability to supply safe drinking water to remote areas and address the drinking water issues of the country. With the abundance of solar energy in India, products like AQPure can help solarize India's water needs, eventually cutting down energy consumption and improving cost efficiency. AQPure is bound to make a difference for people in rural India, offering a boost to the government's water agenda and simultaneously strengthen Grundfos' commitment to UN's SDG 6 (water and sanitation).”

In India, AQPure has proven to be a success in the drinking water industry, after fruitfully operating for more than three years in Hingalganj, West Bengal. The system was resistant to heavy winds blowing at speeds of 150 km/h during the Amphan cyclone and provided drinking water to 2,500 villagers. Following this, West Bengal witnessed eight more installations of AQPure systems in the state, which currently serve 15,000 people.

AQPure is among the many Grundfos' solutions being implemented in India to ensure sustainable access to drinking water systems. This ultrafiltration-based water treatment system filters out bacteria, viruses and other unwanted particles from the raw water source to provide affordable drinking water. AQPure's flexibility allows for easy installations in various rural and urban locations with multiple applications like solar water solutions, community water supply and industrial water supply.
