In a timeline when the manufacturing sector in India is undergoing a revival, what kind of pumps you believe will be in demand?

Pump solutions which reduces the cost of ownership will be the order of the day.

Grundfos has dedicated solutions for the residential and commercial real estate, in a timeline when smart buildings and energy efficiency are becoming the standard paradigms, how has your products evolved to match the necessary criteria?

True to the vision of Grundfos which states ‘BE >THINK>INNOVATE’, Grundfos has been

ahead in the thinking curve as far as market requirement goes. This has resulted in the company always introducing contemporary and intelligent solutions.

As an industry collective, what do you feel are the major challenges for the pump industry in India? How can they be overcome?

Cost optimised solution is something which the industry has been demanding under the current circumstances. To a great extent there has been an emphasis on frugal engineering without compromising on optimum quality by supplying technologically advanced pumps - pumps which consume less and give more. We attempt to achieve with continuous investments for improvements in our research and development and manufacturing infrastructures.

 

As far as quality and performance is concerned what are the parameters that enable Grundfos to deliver optimal efficiency?

There is a fundamental law of human creation which states ‘What works best also looks best’. To be functionally successful, the product too must look good. Passion to perfection is what drives Grundfos.  The company is best known for its energy efficient and reliable pumping systems

 

What are the products and technology trends in India and abroad when it comes to the pump sector?

SMART technology is something that has got attention from everyone. Solutions like remote monitoring is addressing the need of hour. Apart from that cutting edge technologies like S – Tube impellers that emphasises on energy saving has taken the market by storm.

 

Water scarcity has been one of the prominent challenges in the Indian context, as an allied industry what steps do you feel should be in place ensure this valuable resource is utilised responsibly, how can pumps help in overcoming this challenge?

It is believed that distribution leaks account for almost 30% of water wastage. One of the innovative ways that Grundfos has adopted to face this challenge is the Demand Driven Distribution (DDD). It is an innovative water management pumping solution that reduces the energy and operational cost of the water distribution system with the help of pressure controls. This way water is equally distributed, safeguarding the system efficiency and in turn producing the right water pressure for the customers.

 

When it comes to industrial pumps, Grundfos offers solution across a varied palate, which sector you feel will drive the maximum demand for pumps? What are your most popular solutions across different sectors in the industrial segment?

Grundfos is globally known for its machine tool pumps, one of the high efficiency pumps that offers accuracy and stability in a variety of machine tool applications like grinding, turning, milling, boring etc. This pump is also predominantly used in the automobile industry. Grundfos is one of the largest suppliers of high pressure pumps for RO systems. We also supply a wide range of single stage pumps that is used for in various utility application.

 

WRT to pumps, a proper installation necessitates the need for trained professionals, what kind of skilling and training do you provide to your on-site employees to ensure that it is done right?

Grundfos gives a lot of importance for training programs. We have actively participated in the Indian Plumbing Conference as part of ‘Skill India’ initiatives. We also impart training to service technicians on various platforms of ISHRAE.

In addition to these initiatives, Grundfos India has also helped set up state-of-the-art plumbing lab at Swami Vivekananda Rural Community College, a vocational training institute seeking to empower the under privileged youth. In 2014, the then Commissioner of Chennai Corporation, VikramKapur had requested the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and some of its members to help assist on a few of the city’s key initiatives as part of their CSR. The Commissioner had identified training at the Chennai Corporation’s ITI as one such initiative. Given Grundfos’ expertise relating to pumps, the company conducted three batches of training for their plumbing and fitter students (50 students). The training on ‘pump basic’ was conducted at Grundfos’ Poul Due Jensen Academy. It included theory and practical sessions. Through the training of the three batches, around 35 students from the backward classes and 10 SC/ST students were benefitted.

 

As we become increasingly globalised, the customer demands becomes more specific and demanding, what solutions do you have in place to ensure a quick and effective after sales service?

Customers can register their complaints through Service India and Toll Free or even through the social media sites. Grundfos addresses the queries and provides the best solution to its customers within the specified timeline. We also provide fast and efficient onsite pump repair services, ensuring minimum downtime.

 

What are the new product launches you have lined up for this year? What events will you partake in?

We have lined up quite a few interesting product in the water booster segments and also new range of vertical multistage pumps.

 

What are other steps you have taken to ensure you reach out to maximum people thereby increasing your market penetration?

We have expanded our network pan India. Today we have 140 POS dealers catering to the market requirement. We basically want to ensure that we have proper sales and service network in tier 2 & Tier 3 cities to meet the market requirement. With Grundfos service centres in more than 50 countries throughout the world, supplemented by more than 600 authorisedGrundfos Service Partners, we are never far away.

 

In a timeline when a lot of products and services are getting app integrated what steps have you taken in this regard?

We have an app called Grundfos GO on iOS platform where you can control and monitor pumping systems. One can select pumps that cater to various applications with the help of this app.
