GEPIL to deliver NOx reduction system to NTPC

GE Power India (GEPIL) has received a ‘Notice of Award’ to supply a DeNOx system to NTPC for their Barauni Thermal Power Plant (2X250 MW) in Bihar. This project has an order value of INR 12.78 Cr ($1.7 M). GEPIL will set up the combustion modification technology for all the steam generators in Barauni stage-II, Unit 8 and 9 to meet the NOx emission limit of 450 mg/NM3 to comply with the Indian environmental requirements.

Supporting the ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ initiative of Government of India, all the major components for the project will be manufactured in India. GE’s Durgapur facility in West Bengal will supply the pressure parts and other components will also be procured locally from various sub vendors.

GE’s vast experience in providing customised, cost efficient and environmentally compliant solutions for DeNox creates a tangible impact and will help the power plant comply with the GOI’s initiative to reduce emission levels for improvement in overall quality of air.

Prashant Jain, Managing Director of GE Power India said, “We are truly delighted to have received this prestigious order from NTPC which reflects GE’s commitment to help the country address the critical issue of emission from coal power plants. This win also support’s GEPIL’s strategy to continue to deliver aligned with the local market demand and the national interests of the country.”

Recently, GEPIL had also won another project for combustion modification for NOx control along with advanced firing system equipment from Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVUNL) to meet the NOx emission norms for their Harduaganj, Parichha and Anpara plants. The order is a first for combustion modification for NOx control by any state utilities in India which is worth INR 43.2 crore (USD 5.7 million).

GE’s AQCS portfolio of products offers advanced air pollution control engineering, from process and equipment design to construction, operations, and maintenance. GE Steam Power’s wide range of FGD technological solutions are currently under execution across several NTPC plants in Telangana, Solapur, Tanda, Meja, Unchahar, Jhajjar, Sipat and Simhadri etc totalling ~ 13 GW in capacity. Similarly, GE Steam Power is also presently executing orders of ~ 13 GW for its DeNox solutions. These solutions go a long way in helping customers meet the government regulations around reduction of SOx and NOx and deliver clean and efficient power for the future.
