Gandhi Automations ready to meet the huge demands of international market

How do you see the evolution of technologies and operational practices in the warehousing and logistics sector in India?
The world of logistics is moving to an on-demand model. call it an ‘Uberized’ model… where owning traditional assets is no longer a requirement to be a viable logistics company. A competitor to a traditional logistics service provider need not just be another LSP, but can be any platform provider, industrial automation or technology company that can aggregate supply and demand, as well ease logistic solutions in one place and meet a customer’s requirement. This could look ideal or theoretical to a few but it is not impossible. To compete, companies need to be equipped with the best possible technologies, including an integrated automation system, to manage all of the logistical and business complexities found in the supply chain. A country as large as India, can use automation in tandem with its huge demographic dividend to create a manufacturing base. This manufacturing base may produce goods made on production lines using human hands while also manufacturing increasingly more sophisticated products using automation. Many companies in India, even in the face of global competition, can manufacture goods more efficiently than companies in other countries.

How does Gandhi Automation look at the Indian market for automated doors?
Soaring investments flowing through hospitality, retail, commercial and healthcare sectors construction activities in India are opening up opportunities for smart entrance doors. Growing awareness about energy efficiency and environmental impact on using automatic doors have resulted in wide acceptance in residential sectors as well as educational institutions. Technology upgradation in the automatic doors market ensures cost savings in the long run despite the higher initial cost as compared to conventional doors.

How have new age technologies like Big Data, Cloud and robotics transformed the face of warehousing and logistics industry? How benefitting has been the move on automation for economies like India, are we ready to embrace this change?
Industrial Automation in India is evolving and getting implemented across several sectors in the country. Additionally, intelligent Automation is pushing industries towards training their workforce to take up more high-end jobs which will not only save their jobs but also up-place them in the long-term. With further developments in the different industrial sectors, India can leapfrog other competing countries like China in manufacturing with the adoption of advanced Automation & Robotics.  Companies with innovative, advanced Automation technologies will be at the forefront of automating India’s manufacturing processes. In regards to the increasing emphasis on the Governments “Make in India” campaign and the need for meeting global manufacturing standards, huge opportunities for foreign players arise, as Industrial Automation and Robotic Automation is in the process to be commonly implemented in India. Maximizing the efficiency of the entire economy is crucial for economic success. Most Indian manufacturers today are not at a stage where they can automate most of their processes, yet those that can automate processes should certainly do so. Over the next decade, by using the best of automation and human capital, Indian industry may fulfil its true potential, something that has eluded it thus far.

Which are the driving demand sectors for your business activities? Also point us out the major roadblocks faced by service providers like you and how do you tackle the same?
Procurement professionals around the world are standing on the threshold of new age. Until now, the essential criteria for future-proofing procurement and supply management has never been so purposefully compiled. The old paradigm of cost reduction and cost efficiency is drawing to a close. New and revolutionary concepts are spinning from the frenzied technological leaps of our time; especially in digital transformation. In this dynamic, complex and disruptive era, procurement leaders and experts around the world are searching for a secure and successful future. Future-proofing can deliver this security – provided the methodological and instrumental requirements this study discusses and proposes - are in place. While everyone is talking about future-proofing, only few have the operational expertise to futureproof their organization.
Ensuring efficiency in your procurement process has a positive chain reaction within your entire organization. The objectives of a world-class procurement organization are far beyond the traditional belief that procurement’s primary role is to obtain goods and services in response to internal needs. In fact, a successful procurement process aims to optimize the whole process to create significant business value.

How has been the government support towards benefiting the growth of warehousing and logistics industry in India? GST is expected to bring in a 112 per cent growth in warehousing industry, share with us your opinion on this prediction?
The infrastructure for warehousing and logistics is very poor. However, with the advent of GST and implementation of GST regime; things are looking very upbeat. Companies have started investing hugely in warehouse space & logistics. This has very promising views on upcoming technology and advancements in this sector.
The emerging trends which are becoming very popular are remote operated high-speed doors and rolling shutters, the challenges here are sustainability and access. The opportunities to the Indian Industry with automation is to maintain an efficient production cycle, safe inventory, Cutting-edge technology, speed of movement, functionality and safety- are the must-haves for this line of Gandhi automations products. If we add the high quality of personalization and design, they become unique elements necessary for daily logistics operations and for the visibility of customer identity.

Our products are in conformance with highest standards, and can be installed either on new fixed /retractable warehouses, or integrated into already existing ones.
Tell us about your future growth agendas and where do you see the industry in the next five years?
The Indian economy propelled by the Make in India initiative, demand for machinery & equipment is likely to receive significant boost in the decade ahead. A report by Dun & Bradstreet states that for the period FY16-FY20, it is estimated that cross Value Addition of machinery & equipment to grow at an average annual rate of 14.7% during FY16- FY20 and further accelerate to 17.2% during FY21-FY25
The machinery and equipment industry have significant opportunities both in the domestic and export markets in the decade ahead. However, high dependence on imports, capacity constraints, outdated technology, lack of R&D focus and innovation is hampering in exploiting the sector’s full potential. At the same time, demands of the user industries are expected to evolve and the demand for next generation, customized products will increase. In this scenario, machinery & equipment companies who fail to adapt to this change will be left behind. Enhancing R&D efforts will be an important step to attain manufacturing excellence for the industry in the coming decade.
There is a clear need to add manufacturing capacities in the manufacturing automation and logistic warehousing sector. The industry is moving towards increasingly sophisticated entrance automation solutions like high speed doors, automated rolling shutters, loading bay solutions, hangar and garage doors, sectional overhead doors etc. driven by demand from key user segments such as automobiles, consumer durables, aerospace, pharmaceutical, food, construction, industrialization etc. To derive long term benefits, entrance automation manufacturers should develop capabilities to cater to this demand and promote greater investments in this sector.
“We are number 1 in the domestic market. There’s huge untapped international market for our products. Our products meet international safety standards and with right kind of product portfolio, we are ready to meet the demands of this huge international market.”
