New Delhi, Aug (EPC News): According to the Ministry of Railway, 2460 acres of land is under encroachment, said E. Ahamed, Minister of State for Railways.
“Indian Railways have approximately 10.65 lakh acre of land, out of which only 2460 acres of land, which constitutes 0.23 per cent of total land holding, is under encroachment,” he informed Rajya Sabha today.
Under the provision of Public premises Act 1971, the ministry are engaged in the continuous process to remove encroachment from railway land. As far as vacant land bank of ministry is concern, it’s Rail Land Development Authority to undertake the commercial development and so far 135 sites measuring 3761 acres have been entrusted to RLDA for the said purpose.
