Tripura, Aug (EPC News): India’s first gas based power project fueled with gas from Bangladesh to go on stream from December 2010, said R S Sharma, Chairman Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. The 726 MW plant is coming up at Palatana, in Tripura, bordering Bangladesh, which has proven gas reserves of 8.4 trillion cubic feet. The Palatana power project combined with transmission links and gas pipelines is slated to bring in investments of around Rupees 90 billion, the largest ever single investment in India's remote northeastern region.
